vintage now modern

i recently had the chance to take a paint your own piece class at vintage now modern, and with mother’s day around the corner, i knew i had to share. vintage now modern specializes in annie sloan products – including the wildly popular chalk paint, waxes and brushes. if your mom is crafty (or has always wanted to be), two spots in the next workshop would be a great gift for mother’s day – not only do you get a new piece of furniture in the end, but you can spend some quality time together too :)

i had so much fun redoing an end table. deb runs the store and is an absolute delight. she's very knowledgeable about all of the products and techniques, and she also serves as your own personal cheerleader. she has such a warm personality, she’ll make you feel like you’re a professional interior designer with the best taste in the world. to paint my end table with two coats of french grey, it took about two and half hours. you wash, paint, dry, sand and wax your piece right there in the studio in that one session. it takes a little elbow grease, but in the end your piece is completely transformed. people had all kinds of pieces from foot stools to formal dining chairs that ended up looking rustic, bohemian and a la francaise. deb can help you achieve whatever look you’re going for. and if you get hooked, which you probably will because you can use this stuff to redo just about anything, you can buy annie sloan chalk paint, brushes and how-to books in the store (or online if your mom is from out of town).
