rumor has it...

so i recently did a twitter purge because i had just gotten to the point where my feed was overwhelming, and now that i can actually manage to sift through the accounts i follow, i have found some really interesting articles. for instance, barb blair (greenville's very own resident artiste extraordinaire and local heroine) is going to start offering online classes. yes, apparently it's true and straight from barb herself. "in addition to the new book, this spring, blair will offer online classes via creativebug, a website that features video workshops and classes on everything from canning to upholstering."

how cool is this? i will definitely sign up, right after i buy her new book. barb is such an inspiration, from her taste to her integrity, and a real gem in greenville's crown. if you aren't familiar with barb's work, you should definitely read this article chronicling her journey from greenville online. you can also follow her adventures on the knack blog (be sure to check out her instagram, too. it's gorgeous) and you can buy her book, and her furniture, at her store in the west village.

last sunday, justin and i went to the euphoria jazz brunch. euphoria has been on my greenville bucket list for a while now, but i never thought we'd get the chance to go because tickets can be pretty pricey. luckily, a co-worker had some extra tickets they no longer needed, and we were able to score two for the price of one! so, off we went sunday morning to enjoy some brunch, bloodies and jazz.

the event was held downtown in the parking lot-ish area next to soby's (209-300 block of south main street, greenville, sc 29601) they had pitched some large white tents and even laid down a dance floor. over all, the ambiance was really nice, except there wasn't nearly enough seating or even tables to stand at and enjoy your food. it was so crowded, and every time we got a plate we had to either beeline back to our original table or do some juggling (which i am terrible at). but the food was wonderful! there was a bloody mary bar, courtesy of tito's vodka, plus a few speciality versions, like a fried green tomato and spicy pepper. (there were also screwdrivers and beer for all you non-bloody mary types.) and then there was food from all sorts of restaurants that ranged from fancy to casual with locations downtown and even over on woodruff. some of it was buffet style and some of it was made on the spot just for you, but all of it was amazing. get a sampling of the cuisine below and check out a full list of vendors here.

tealoha: pumpkin spice tea latte

tomorrow is friday! in my world, that means treat yo self! back when i lived in D.C. and there was a starbucks on my walk from the metro to my internship, i would treat myself to a pumpkin scone every friday (and sometimes get into double trouble with a pumpkin frappacino, too — hey, DC was built on a swamp folks. it's humid as hell there). it was a grand tradition that i hoped to continue last fall in greenville. until one day, during the height of pumpkin season i might add, the pumpkin scones were gone. vanished. off the menu. in their place was some faux, pre-packed croissants at which any self-respecting frenchman would have turned their well-bred nose up. i was devastated, and starbucks was officially on my shit list...

ripped knees

i keep seeing black skinny jeans with ripped knees all over the internet, and i am absolutely loving it. my favorite pair of jeans are my trusted black skinnies, a great pair of levi's that i've had since college. they never lose their shape, no matter how often i wear them, and they're super flattering even on days when i'm feeling less than my best. lately though, i've been thinking of adding another pair to the rotation. i like that the ripped knees add an extra level of interest to your outfit that's more subtle than say a statement necklace. dress them up with heels or throw on some boots, you just can't go wrong. check out my favorite looks below + where to shop.

and...i think i'm going to snag this pair from asos.

indie craft parade 2014: part 2

justin and i got a really good haul at indie craft parade. we are just beginning what I have dubbed the rental renovation, so we were looking for a few tchotchkies to add to the house. we found all that and more (meaning a few things I will purchasing on etsy once my wallet recovers) from both old favorites and new makers.

indie craft parade 2014: part 1

justin and i went to the indie craft parade VIP gala two friday nights ago, and it was awesome! my only regret is that i wish i had taken more photos...but alas, when you're bogged down with tiny paper shopping bags on both arms, three plates of hors d'oeuvre in one hand, and a beer in the other, all while trying not to spill said beer on the handmade goods, it's a little hard to whip out your camera.

guess what: your boyfriend jason segel has written a book! and not like a shitty hollywood memoir, either, but a middle school fiction novel. i am very excited about this for several reasons:

indie craft parade: last year's haul

indie craft parade is less than a week away! the VIP gala is friday, and i can't wait. they have something for everyone (guys, too!), and justin is coming with me this year. i really think he'll enjoy it! last year, they had the most delicious snacks, craft beer and coffee, a photo booth, and tattly tattoos (among other things). i can't wait to see what they have in store for us on friday. get all the details on what i picked up at last year's party after the jump.

chocolate pistachio ice cream cake

this is the easiest ice cream cake you will ever make! no ice cream maker required. all you have to do is smash things together...literally. do you have some pent up aggression? work been stressing you out? then, this is the cake for you! i actually made this cake for my friend janine's birthday. we drove up to virginia, and i threw this little baby together in about 5 minutes while she was fiddling around in the other room...see, i told you this was going to be easy!
