red white & blue tom collins

happy fourth of july! last week, i won these amazing vintage georges briard glasses from shindig furnishing's instagram contest (thanks again guys!), and i knew i had to dream up a cocktail to put in them. since nothing goes better with a cookout than lemonade, i went with a red, white and blue twist on a tom collins — a traditionally british drink — to mimic america's own evolution. best of all, this is a pretty low-cal cocktail. i made my own blueberry simple syrup using splenda and, unlike tonic water, sparkling water is calorie-free. these are so light and refreshing, you won't have to feel guilty about having more than one. recipe below:

here's what you'll need:

2 oz gin
1 oz lemon juice
1 oz of blueberry simple syrup
la croix cran-raspberry sparkling water
blueberries and raspberries to garnish

1. pour your gin over ice
2. add your lemon juice and simple syrup
3. throw some berries in for good measure
4. fill your glass the rest of the way with sparkling water
5. stir and enjoy!
