summer read: ship of gold

driving home from work today, i heard the best story on npr. justin and i are both firm believers that south carolina is the most underrated state. (beautiful beaches, friendly cities, amazing food, beer aplenty, what more could you ask for?) so, this story only reaffirmed what i already knew.

picture this: you're wading in some beautiful breakers, right off the coast of south carolina, when all of a sudden, you feel something with your toes beneath the sand. you reach down, and lo and behold, it's a brick of solid gold. the SS Central America sank in 1857, and took several tons of gold down with it. now, they're finally excavating the last coins and bricks after many years of debate. i'm a sucker for a true story, and i'm thinking gary kinder's book would make a great summer read!
