Weekend Edition: Asheville

gone to carolina in my mind

When Justin's mom was here, we took a day trip to Asheville.  It's only an hour from Greenville and is one of the art hubs of the south.  We walked around downtown and popped into the shops in the Grove Arcade, a historic building from 1929 that was "envisioned as the most elegant building in America." That's where I found the amazing octopus lamp pictured below, but my favorite shop in Asheville was Three Dogs Bakery.  They had a whole case of pup friendly confections and even had dog beer!  The first floor of the art museum is free and right it's showcasing work from local students, many of whom are being entered into a national competition.  We also saw some of the local landmarks and snapped a few pictures of the mountains.  As you can see by my rosy cheeks it was really cold and had snowed the day before, so unfortunately, we only stayed for the afternoon.  I can't wait to go back in the spring to eat, hike, and maybe take in a show at the Orange Peel or walk around the Biltmore estate.  Check out our pictures below:
